On October 20, hundreds gathered for the dedication of the Margaret A. Cargill Natural Sciences and Health Building (MAC) at Berea College. The 125,000 SF building is a dynamic educational hub for 21st-century education in science, technology, and healthcare.
Faculty and students led tours and demonstrations in the facility and Dr. Mae Jemison, the first woman of color in space, gave a presentation titled Pursuing the Extraordinary.
“I believe pursuing an extraordinary tomorrow creates a better world today,” she said. The message echos the goals of the building, which is designed to inspire and empower learning and discovery.
