An architect with 40 years of experience in design, management and teaching, Terry Steelman is a Senior Principal at Ballinger. He has been responsible for many of the firm’s most celebrated academic, medical and corporate projects. Terry’s work includes many award-winning and published projects such as the P/A Award for the Samsung America Headquarters, AIA Pennsylvania Honor Award and AIA Philadelphia Silver Medal for the Adelphi University Nexus Building, AIA Philadelphia Award of Highest Honors for the Rowan University Henry and Betty Rowan Hall, amongst many others.
In addition to practice, Terry has taught architectural design at numerous universities including RISD and Syracuse. While at Syracuse, he was the Director of the First Year Program and Chair of Architecture for International Programs in Florence, Italy. He continues to serve as architectural critic on both academic juries and design award juries nationwide.
Recognizing his contributions to the profession and his career achievements in design, the American Institute of Architects named Terry a Fellow of the Institute in 2009. He served as the President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 2003, during which time he was instrumental in forming the nonprofit Center for Architecture. He remains active in the Chapter and currently serves on the Chapter’s Fellows Committee.
Terry received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas and his Master of Architecture from Washington University.
