The Brooklyn Hospital Center | Master Plan

The Brooklyn Hospital Center was founded in 1845 as the borough’s first voluntary hospital. Today, it is a 464-bed community teaching hospital, and provides a full range of primary, specialty, diagnostic and tertiary care.
Over the course of eight months and 15 user group meetings, Ballinger worked with The Brooklyn Hospital Center to develop a long-term master plan that supports the Hospital’s mission, strategic goals and immediate tactical planning objectives.
Ballinger helped The Brooklyn Hospital Center achieve their planning goals, which included:
• Adopt guiding principles and planning criteria to help frame present and future planning decisions
• Create a short-term tactical strategy (2-5 years) for immediate needs: ED, Ambulatory Care, Imaging
• Provide multiple options/strategies (10-20 years) for complete replacement of inpatient facilities and hospital infrastructure
