Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital | Lasko Tower

The new Lasko Tower at Chester County Hospital continues the hospital’s commitment to delivering patient-centric care for its rapidly growing community. The 93,000 SF, four-story building adds 72 new private patient rooms for telemetry, surgical care, and maternity units, as well as a state-of-the-art radiation oncology treatment suite.

The patient rooms have been designed to include three distinct zones – the caregiver zone, the patient zone and the family zone. For caregivers, medical equipment, workspace and supplies are within easy reach but out of the way of patients and visitors. For patients, care is centralized and offers space and privacy to recover. For visitors, each room has a sofa that converts into a table, a desk or a bed for guests who wish to stay the night. Each room is equipped with monitoring capabilities and designed to meet medical, surgical, intermediate and intensive care requirements. Two nurses’ stations serve 12 rooms each, providing a more patient-focused design. An additional computer workstation is located in between each pair of rooms to facilitate access to electronic medical records.

Space and light are key components of this expansion. Spacious patient rooms allow the comfortable coexistence of clinicians, patients and families during the treatment and healing processes. The placement of the nurses’ stations and touchdowns within the 24-bed floor plan decreases the distance between work space and patient, allowing the caregivers to spend more time at the bedside. Large windows bring natural light and outdoor views to waiting areas, patient rooms, interior family lounges, staff lounges and conference rooms.
