Ballinger has worked as a partner with Merck & Co. on a variety of projects across their global real estate portfolio including: building design, interior fit-outs, site consolidations and global architectural and interior space standards.
This range of activities has influenced Merck’s leadership vision, business drivers, corporate culture and how space is built. Beyond reducing real estate costs by optimizing floor plates and standardizing work environments, Ballinger has developed a variety of innovative tools that have helped articulate Merck’s workplace strategy, MerckSpace. These tools allow for the planning and design of less hierarchical, task-based work environments and multi-functional spaces supported by new and emerging technologies. Embracing alternative work strategies such as hoteling, reverse hoteling and touchdown space has allowed Merck to create a flexible work environment supportive of an ever changing multi-generational workforce.
