Boeing | H-47 Focused Factory

Boeing engaged Ballinger to plan and design a phased campus improvement initiative that included site master planning, renovation of manufacturing facilities and office facility expansion.

The strategic plan focused on improving operational efficiency, developing a collaborative environment for employees, and incorporating sustainable design principles such as increased daylight in the work environment.  The first phase redefines factory space for the production of the H-47 Chinook helicopter.  An existing building was renovated to create a more efficient, linear assembly line flanked by design engineer workspace.  The design engineers are located adjacent to the point in the assembly line where they will be most needed.  New window structures allow increased levels of natural light, as well as a direct line of sight to the flight ramp and the Delaware River.
