Ballinger was proud to sponsor DesignPhiladelphia’s Designing Futures Breakfast on January 29, honoring Dr. Lakita Costner. A visionary educator, artist, and leader, Dr. Costner is known for redefining how young people in Philadelphia learn about and experience design. Through her work in the School District of Philadelphia, she helps Career and Technical Education students see themselves as innovators and creators.

The Designing Futures Breakfast is a fundraiser for DesignPhiladelphia’s K-12 Design Education program and JADE Fellowship for undergraduate design students. In addition to sponsoring the event, Ballinger hosted JADE Fellows for a studio visit, and signed on to teach a course this spring at the U School, a unique competency-based school in Philadelphia. Delivered through DesignPhiladelphia’s Design Education program, it brings volunteer architects, designers, and engineers to classrooms to introduce students to the design process.

"Design is a common language that connects imagination to action. Ballinger’s participation with the JADE Fellowship and Design Education program reflects our belief that sharing this language—through mentorship and direct engagement—can open doors and show students how ideas become spaces, systems, and solutions."
