creative solutions for the civic and cultural touchstones of the past, present, and future

Because buildings are a way an institution positions itself within its context and the way it seeks to interact with its community, clients in the civic and cultural space need solutions that embody a strong institutional mission, set of values, and identity. The opportunity to reinvent both how an institution pursues its mission and how it presents itself to the public, is a challenge that Ballinger has been eager to stand up to. We intimately understand that clients in the civic and cultural space need a practice that is aware of industry trends, but completely understands the local landscape.

clients

Our civic and cultural clients are serious entities focused on keeping the wheels of government turning or inspiring the artistic expression and cultural health of the community. Ballinger has played a role in many significant cultural ventures in Philadelphia, including the project formation of the regional performing arts venue the Kimmel Center, and as associate architect of the world-renowned Barnes museum. Our engagement on important municipal projects in the region has brought important services directly to the people who need them.

our approach

We understand architecture’s responsibility to express aspirational goals while fulfilling the less glamorous, but critically important, functional and logistical needs. By using our expertise to create sustainable, accessible, equitable public spaces, Ballinger is giving back to the communities in which we live and work and positively impacting people’s lives.
