Architecture - Senior Project Manager Healthcare

  • Candidates must have project architect, project management, client management and external marketing skill sets.

Engineering - Fire Protection Design Engineer

Ballinger is seeking talented and forward-thinking Fire Protection Design Engineer with 0 to 5 years’ experience to join our interdisciplinary project teams, and to contribute to the design of the Fire Protection systems for our research, healthcare, institutional and corporate clients. Responsibilities:
  • Develops, modifies and/or reviews drawings of systems or components
  • Assist technically in the resolution of design problems that may include performing field inspections, detailed design work and detailed checking of design computations
  • Perform basic calculations such as size required means of egress, maximum allowable building area, sprinkler system water supplies and smoke control equipment
  • Design sprinkler, fire alarm, and mass notification systems
  • Review, certify, and commission fire protection systems
  • Minimal travel, or as project requirements dictate
The candidate must possess strong production, analytical communication and production skills, and be able to perform well in a design environment.

Additional Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering
  • EIT preferred
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in the industry as an entry level design engineer, Co-op, or intern is preferred

Responsibilities:
  • Engineering support on project teams under direction of project leaders
  • Active role in drawing production
  • Direct engineering on projects: Develop and execute design and drafting from schematics through construction administration with guidance from engineering leadership

  • Have or develop expertise in all Ballinger’s project types: research buildings, science and academic, hospitals, corporate offices – technical complex building projects – renovation and new construction, etc.

Operations - BIM Coordinator

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the BIM Manager in the growth of the firms BIM organization. Supporting the firm’s productivity goals and align with firm culture of design quality.
  • Meet regularly with disciplinary Revit User Groups (RUGs), obtain knowledge of Ballinger BIM practices, assess and address needs and concerns.
  • Assist in the coordination, development and maintenance of firm-wide BIM standards.
  • Lead and guide development, maintenance and management of discipline Revit templates.
  • Maintain quality and interoperability of discipline content libraries.
  • Help develop and maintain a firm-wide template for the BIM Execution Plan, including:
    • Develop and BIM execution plans for new projects.
    • Guide external transfer of BIM content with clients, contractors/construction managers, and consultants.
    • Coordinate advanced BIM processes and technologies (i.e. laser scanning, clash detection).
  • Lead BIM kick-off meetings for new projects. Assist project teams in creating BIM models and implementing BIM firm standards and best practices at the beginning of the project.
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control standards and reviews for BIM models.
  • Assist in the development of a discipline coordination process and coordinate the clash detection/resolution process.
  • Automate routines in BIM to support standards and productivity.
  • Assist with in-house training, including roll-out of new software features, script routines, collaborative processes, and implementation of firm standards.
Minimum Candidate Requirements:
  • Professional degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management.
  • 3+ years’ experience in BIM/CAD coordination or in design/drafting
  • Extensive knowledge of A/E/C industry processes and typical design project life cycle.
  • Understanding of design and facilities management trends, including Integrated Project Delivery, LEAN, Sustainable Design, etc.
  • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit. Knowledge of BIM360 cloud services preferred.
  • Scripting / Dynamo experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Navisworks, Revizto or any Rendering Software.
  • Working knowledge of current Microsoft Office software, including Office 365 and Teams.
